Thank you for your work and efforts to find ways of treating leukemia and supporting families of those diagnosed and those diagnosed themselves. I lost my dad to leukemia, aged 16, three years ago on 22/12/20. A very tragic, difficult time which I live with everyday. He tried to support charities after support he'd received. My Auntie is running the London Marathon next year for this charity, in memory of my dad. We can't wait to support her. Thanks

My son was diagnosed with ALL this year, at 6 months old. Thanks to new treatments/trials, he was able to have a much lighter treatment plan, He had 2 cycles of blinatumomab, and 2 cycles oc chemo, one before belina and one after. I can only imagine how much harder it would have been for his body, If he didn't have the chance to trial the blinatumomab, and have more chemotherapy. The test that shows cancerous footprints has also been a great indication for us, and put our minds at ease!

Dear all Good Morning. I am writing to say a big thank you for all you do. Our son had Leukaemia in 2017 which was treated at QE Birmingham in the Teenage cancer trust YPU. They were fantastic. His Leukaemia came back late 2019 and had a stem cell replacement in 2020. He is now in full remission🙏 Without you guys and the team at cure Leukaemia and Anthony Nolan he would not have survived. My lovely Mum was diagnosed in November 2020 with acute myeloid leukaemia on a Monday, she passed away early hours on the Wednesday it was such a shock for us although she wasn’t feeling well we didn’t expect this, the only saving grace was that she didn’t have to suffer for weeks and months. A cure for this although to late for my Mum would stop other families having to go through the shock and heartache of losing a loved one to this horrible disease. Our world was turned upside down in September 2022, when our daughter was diagnosed with APML, aged 17. Due to the incredible work of researchers, she benefited from a new treatment - arsenic trioxide and ATRA, with just 2 chemo doses. This new treatment was far less harmful to her heart and fertility. She’s now well and applying to study medicine at university. Her prognosis is excellent but I know in the past it wouldn’t have been. What you do is extraordinary. Thank you so much!

I was diagnosed with APML in 2001 . It was very frightening particularly since I had nursed children with leukaemia so I understood all the implications. Fortunately I had a good outcome with chemo only and eventually discharged from clinic after 10yrs. I got my life back only for the researchers who work hard daily to find cures. I am forever grateful . My youngest was 8yr when I was diagnosed. She now is a senior nurse in a Bone Marrow Transplant unit in the city where I live.

When my daughter was first diagnosed with leukaemia, she spent her 4th birthday in a glass isolation box at the end of the ward. We were told she had a 35 - 40% chance of survival and would not be able to have any children. She is now 51 , leading a full life having had three sons. In October 2019 I was told that I had AML, now almost 4 years down the line I am 3 years post transplant and clear of cancer. It has been an incredible journey with a lot of low’s and a few highs, and it’s all thanks to the research team and the fantastic treatment from all the McMillan staff. 12 years ago my son Chris was diagnosed with AML, he received (at the time) experimental treatment at The Heath Hospital in Cardiff which was very brutal on him and hard for us to watch. Fortunately the treatment was 100%, all his bone marrow test were negative and he has been completely clear since leaving treatment. Well firstly my father was diagnosed with it in his later years ( at the age of 90 ) , that was not the cause of his death but stomach cancer was . Also it does not seem to be as treatable as some other cancers , I have also noticed that besides adults it seems to affect children probably more than any other childhood cancers does. Well yes it is obviously devastating when anyone gets a diagnosis of this terrible disease , let's pray for a cure soon please .

I would like to thank guys like yourselves that are so dedicated to researching alternative treatments for leukaemia. My husband was diagnosed 2011 in Dublin where we were living at the time. Had 4courses of Bendamustine and Rituximed which had only just been sanctioned in Ireland. Moved back to UK in 2015 and 2021 was put on Ibrutineb. It affected his extremities so now on half dosage. We feel so blessed that these new drugs were available thanks to people like yourselves. He is 81.

Early diagnosis is only possible if more doctors are aware of symptoms. I was lucky my GP had trained on an oncology unit. My son survived mainly due to him and better drugs as a result of research

My husband had a bone marrow transplant 12 years ago which meant that I had him for another 9 years. Sadly his AML came back and I lost him three years ago. If only there was a treatment that could have saved him! This is why I applaud any research that will provide a lifeline for anyone with blood cancer. Researchers into treatments for Leukaemias

I was first diagnosed with CLL aged 62 in 2003 I was on w&w until September 2014 I started treatment with Bendamustine & Rituximab, I suffered with neutropaenia and hospitalised 4 times.It was successful and I was in remission for 4 years. In 2019 I was treated with Ibrutinib which affected my heart but was in remission for a year. In 2020 I started Venetoclax therapy which has been hugely successful and now aged 82, I enjoy a full, active life thanks to the enormous efforts of researchers.

In the course of being treated for an unrelated condition, my father was found to have Leukaemia, and sadly died not long after. But he was well looked after in the final months of his life, and in common with other victims of Leukaemia, his death is far from being in vain. To all involved, keep up the good work.

My amazing dad who's memory lives on in our hearts

I lost my dad in February last year to AML. It has crippled us as a family as before he became poorly he was super fit and healthy. Seeing a healthy man become so poorly in such a short period of time broke our hearts. He was so brave but his diagnosis was terminal and we had been given the news he had one year to live. Dad only lived 7 months after being diagnosed with this disease. Your ongoing research is so important. I hope that one day there will be a cure or a better outcome this disease

None of the children with leukaemia that I cared for survived at that time 😔 Now,as a result of research and development, and the work of Leukaemia UK ,survival rates have improved for children. My beloved little girl was diagnosed with lymphatic leukaemia finally on 08/06/1970 after being ill on and off for 6 months We were told her life expectancy would be 2 years She was first admitted to hospital in February 1970 She was given a relativey new drug called Adryomycyn a few daysbefore she died. The Drs told me it could be lethal but it was her only chance.For Tracey sadly did'nt work she died just 2 years after first becoming ill I believe her real legacy is now 4 out 5 are cured

One of my past students was diagnosed with leukaemia shortly after leaving school. The news was devastating for him, the family and the staff in my school. We feared the worst as he was in more advanced stage. Fast forward a few months, he seems to do better, he is able to visit places and enjoys life (he shares his adventures on FB) and seems to cope with the illness in his own way. And whatever the outcome will be, your research made all this possible. Thank you.

My parents & friends lost to cancer

I was diagnosed with breast cancer when having a 3 year check but it was so minimal I wouldn't have found it for years as apparently it was slow growing While I was offered a lumpectomy 2 days later told there was a trial that was having wonderful results they were using a new machine it was about less rather than more so I took that had mirco surgery but no other treatment biopsies showed all got away & I was clear 7 years later after yearly checks I was Discharged Researchs thank you
